The Aim of the course:
The discipline of social-cultural anthropology is a science that studies different cultures, and in this course, it is aimed to gain a holistic perspective by discussing the historical development of the discipline and the ways of approaching cultures through various research fields.
Course Content:
Historical development and sub-disciplines of anthropology. Definition of the concept of culture, Cultural elements and processes. A historical overview of theoretical approaches in anthropology. Theories: Evolutionist approaches, Functional-Structuralist approaches, Cognitive, Symbolic and hermeneutic approaches, Post-structuralist approaches, Origin of the city and its state. State Anthropology. Feminist Anthropology. Language Anthropology.
